Healthhizen – an innovative program for citizen support for SWACH BHARAT by Department of Health and Family Welfare was launched by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. Healthizen is a user friendly Mobile application to facilitate cleaner healthier Bengaluru by promoting spirit of active participation of citizens for the welfare of community.

Healthizen as a mobile application that connects the concerned active citizen directly to the Health Department by providing an easy channel to bring to light important issues regarding community health and sanitation. It is presently limited to Bangalore but will be rolled out to cover the entire State.  It can be used nationwide as well with appropriate back up linkages to process the citizen interacts.

Healthizen AppIt does so by allowing the user to raise a flag which involves taking a relevant photograph, and sending embedded location, contact details and comments to an e-mail id belonging to the Health Department. These inputs by citizens will be routed to the concerned authorities for relevant action. The App is in two languages – Kannada and English.

This is an application that is intuitive, simple and extremely quick to use for people of all ages. It is developed with an objective of promoting and building an effective direct channel of communication with the public authorities. By active participation of citizens by using this application available as free down load from play store in all Android phones, results in Improvement of the cleanliness of the city leading to aesthetic and health related benefits. As a result, this will lead to significant reduction in occurrences of preventable communicable diseases, improving the reach of health-care services and facilitates paradigm shift of health services to a mode of prevention and promotion of Health in the community.
